Need Help?
At what time do the charters commence and conclude?
Charters usually commence at 10:00 and end at 18:00, although there may be some variations. In case you have particular timings that would be more convenient for you, kindly inform us, and we will do our best to accommodate your preferences.
Is it possible to reserve a half-day charter?
In the low season, which is up to the end of March and from September onwards, several yachts may provide half-day charters if they are available. In the high season, some smaller boats may offer half-day charters, and if larger yachts have availability at the last minute, they might also arrange for it. Please contact us to inquire about availability, and we will check it for you.
What are the starting and ending points of the charter?
Unless there is prior agreement, all charters will commence and conclude at the yacht’s designated home port.
In which location are the yachts stationed?
…
What is the process to book a reservation?
There are several ways to book a charter with us, such as filling out the online Booking Enquiry Form, contacting us by phone, email, or Whatsapp message, or arranging an in-person meeting if you are in Mallorca.
What happens after we have completed a reservation?
In order to confirm a reservation, we require your full name and email address to send you a charter contract. The contract includes a provision to fill out your personal information and credit card details for the security deposit, which is blocked at the beginning of the charter (refer to ‘What is the security deposit?’).
Moreover, we need a scanned copy of your passport to verify your identification. Once you have signed and returned the contract, you must pay a 50% deposit to secure the booking, or the entire charter fee if the charter starts within 30 days of signing the contract.
As your charter date approaches, we will contact you to make arrangements for catering and finalize the charter’s particulars.
What does the charter fee cover?
The inclusions of the charter fee differ depending on the yacht, and will be thoroughly clarified during the booking procedure.
However, as a general overview, the crew, berth at the home port, towels, linen, and insurance are usually covered in the charter fee. You should anticipate additional expenses like fuel, food, drinks, and berths outside of the home port.
For smaller day boats, the inclusions may be fewer, and you may need to pay extra fees for the Captain, handover (if bareboat), end cleaning, and towels.
Are there any supplementary costs?
As a rule, the following list is not part of your charter fee. We will notify you of any extra charges applicable to your charter during the booking process.
- Fuel for the yacht and tender at the end of your charter (refer to ‘How do I pay for the fuel?’)
- Any food and drinks ordered from our suppliers.
- Moorings outside of the yacht’s home port.
- Cabrera permit (reserved before the charter).
- Additional or specialized water sports equipment.
- Extra marina fees during your time onboard.
Is there a fee for the handover in bareboat charters?
When booking a charter directly with Lamprell Marine for any of our own yachts, a trained skipper will provide the handover at no extra cost. In the case of a bareboat charter outside of our fleet, we will inform you of any handover fee if applicable.
What is the payment process for the charter?
Payment for the charter can be made through various methods such as bank transfer, credit card, online payment link, or in-person with cash.
Do we need to pay a deposit?
In order to secure the booking, a deposit of 50% is necessary, and the remaining balance should be paid 30 days prior to the charter’s start. If the charter is booked within 30 days of the start date, the full payment is required.
What is a security deposit?
In some cases, particularly with smaller boats, you may need to provide a Security Deposit using your credit card. The Security Deposit is preauthorized from your credit card on the morning of your charter and will be released upon the safe return of the yacht with no outstanding payments due. This includes costs for fuel, provisioning (food and drinks), mooring fees from marinas other than the home port, and any other fees incurred during your charter. Any damage caused to the yacht by the charter guests will be paid for by the Charterer, and this amount will be deducted from the security deposit. The amount of security deposit required is specified below and is intended to cover the insurance excess.
What is the method of payment for the fuel?
At the beginning of your charter, the yacht’s fuel tanks will be filled. At the end of your charter, the Captain will take the boat to the fuel station to refill it, and you will need to pay directly to the fuel station. For bareboat charters, the Magentayachts skipper who did the handover with you at the start of the charter will show you where the fuel station is, and they will meet you there at the end of the charter after you have refilled the fuel. If the fuel station is closed, Magentayachts will refill the yacht’s fuel tanks at the first available opportunity, and the total cost will be deducted from your security deposit. If you book a charter that is not part of the Magentayachts Fleet, we will inform you at the time of booking how fuel payments are to be made.
What is APA?
An Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) is required for crewed charters and usually amounts to 30% of the charter fee. This money is paid in advance and will be used by the crew to cover expenses for provisioning, fuel, and other fees incurred during the charter (such as mooring fees). The crew will keep a detailed record of all expenses and any remaining funds from the allowance will be refunded at the end of the charter. In the event of insufficient funds, the Captain will inform you and you will be required to provide additional cash to maintain an adequate balance.
What type of license is required for bareboat charter?
To be able to operate as a skipper for any bareboat yacht, you must possess a license that permits you to sail up to 24 meters in coastal waters as a minimum requirement.
What is the nationality of the crew?
We employ a diverse crew from different nationalities and are committed to equal opportunities. All of our crew members are fluent in English, and whenever feasible, we try to assign crew members who speak the same language as our clients.
Can I get food and drinks as part of the charter fee?
Typically, the charter fee does not cover the cost of food and drinks. However, we have partnered with excellent catering and beverage companies, and you can place your order for onboard provisions beforehand. Some yachts may include a few drinks or snacks, and we will inform you of this when you book.
Can we order food/drinks?
Upon booking your charter, we can provide you with a list of local suppliers for drinks and catering, and arrange for delivery on the morning of your charter. If you have paid an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), the crew will utilize this amount to pay for all provisioning needs.
Is it allowed to bring my own food and drinks onboard?
Of course, you are more than welcome to bring your own food and drinks.
Are children allowed with us?
Certainly, we would be delighted to have you, your family, and friends onboard for a charter. If you bring children, you will be responsible for their behavior and entertainment, and the crew will not be held liable for them.
Please let us know in advance how many children will be in your group and their ages so that the crew can make necessary preparations.
Is it possible for people with disabilities to charter your yachts?
Certainly, it is possible for disabled people to charter our yachts, but accessibility may vary depending on the type of disability. The yachts were not originally designed with disabled guests in mind, so boarding the yacht could be challenging for guests with limited physical mobility. Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair access available as the gangway and walkways are narrow.
As the Charterer, you are responsible for your guests, including those receiving medical treatment. We recommend discussing your needs with our team, who can advise you on which yacht is best suited for your requirements. Some yachts may be better equipped than others, depending on the disability.
Is there water sports equipment available?
It varies from boat to boat, but you can addihonally book watersport toys at your cost on our Extras. Please note, you need to have a license to drive jetbikes.
What does the daily schedule look like for a charter?
When you charter a yacht with us, you have the freedom to choose your own itinerary instead of following a tourist boat’s schedule. Our team can suggest some destinations for you, and you can discuss your preferences with the Captain on the day of your charter, with some flexibility depending on weather and sea conditions. Our experienced Captains are knowledgeable about cruising in Mallorca and can take you to the best spots for a great day out. If you opt for a bareboat charter, we can provide recommendations for suitable places to visit and our Magentayachts Captain will discuss any limitations with you, such as depth restrictions.
Is it possible to sail the boat to Ibiza, Formentera or Menorca?
Most yachts can travel to Ibiza, Formentera, or Menorca if the charter is for more than one day. However, if the charter is for a day trip, it would not be practical to go to these places because it would take approximately 3.5 hours each way from Palma to Ibiza, leaving no time for stopping for a swim or enjoying water sports. Additionally, the cost of fuel for this trip would be roughly double what is spent on the charter fee for the day. Instead, for day charters, we can suggest lovely itineraries along the coast of Mallorca.
How long does it take to get from Palma/Port Adriano to Soller?
It takes about 2 hours to get to the location from Palma and 1.5 hours from Port Adriano.
Can we visit Cabrera?
Cabrera is a protected marine area and has a restricted capacity for the number of yachts that can dock in its small harbor each day. If you would like to visit Cabrera, you will need to request and pay for a permit in advance. We can assist in arranging this for you prior to your charter.
Can we go to Port de Pollensa?
Certainly, you can visit Port de Pollensa, but it would require more than a day if you’re starting from Palma or the South-West Coast of Mallorca. The journey from Palma to Port de Pollensa takes approximately 4 hours or more, which would leave little time for other activities during an 8-hour day charter. Additionally, the cost of fuel for the trip would be almost twice the amount of the charter fee due to the continuous motoring.
What is the maximum number of guests allowed on the yacht?
The number of people that can come on board depends on the size of the boat. Generally, in Spain, most yachts can accommodate a maximum of 12 guests along with the crew. However, some smaller boats may have a lower capacity. We will inform you of the maximum capacity of each yacht at the time of booking.
How many people can sleep on board?
The maximum capacity for overnight charters depends on the size of the boat and the number of cabins available. We will provide information on the maximum capacity at the time of booking.
Do we need our own towels?
Towels are usually included in the price for most yachts, but some smaller day boats may charge extra for towels which can cost around €5 per person.
What is the course of action if the weather is unsuitable for the charter?
We want you to have the best possible experience, but unfortunately, we cannot control the weather, and there is no guarantee that it will be suitable for your trip. If the sea is rough or there is a large swell, the skipper will advise you before the charter begins and inform you if it is unsafe to leave the port. Additionally, if there is heavy rain or a storm on the day, the charter may be canceled.
In such cases, we will try our best to reschedule your charter for another day with better weather conditions. If rescheduling is not possible, we will credit the amount you paid for the canceled charter to your account, and you can use it for your next booking with us. However, this policy may vary for yachts that are not in the Magentayachts managed fleet.
What is the process for canceling a booking?
If you decide to cancel the booking after making the payment for the charter deposit or full charter fee, the amount you paid will be kept as credit which you can use to book any of our own yachts in the future. The credit will be valid for two years.
In case you need to cancel your booking due to bad weather, we will offer you an alternative date if we have availability. Otherwise, you will receive the charter fee as credit, which can be used for a future booking.
Please note that cancellation policies for yachts outside the Magentayachts managed fleet may vary.
